Botswana 2018 21st - 25th May Corporate Registries – A Critical Vehicle for Global Economic Growth The 2018 Corporate Registers Forum conference was hosted by the Companies and Intellectual Property Authority (CIPA) of Botswana. The 15th Annual Corporate Registers Forum (CRF) was held between 21-25 May 2018. The conference brought together over 145 participants representing corporate registrars from around 38 jurisdictions, including 11 African countries. It offered an opportunity to share ideas and best practice, and to discuss emerging registry issues. The theme for the conference was “Corporate Registries – A Critical Vehicle for Global Economic Growth”. Uganda Virtual Conference 2021 9th - 11th November Ease of Doing Business: The role of Corporate Registries Tukusanyukidde! The 16th Annual CRF Conference was held virtually (wholly online) and will be hosted by the Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB). The conference ran from the 9-11 November 2021. Vancouver, Canada 2008 Between Friends – Interoperability Building upon the success of CRF 2007 (Malaysia/Singapore) and CRF 2006 (Hong Kong), Corporate Registers Forum 2008 brought together registrars from around the globe. The Corporate Registers Forum is an international not-for-profit organization for administrators of corporate securities registers. CRF provides delegates with the opportunity to review the latest developments in corporate business registers internationally and exchange experiences and information on the present and future operation of corporate business registration systems. Our theme, Between Friends – Interoperability is represented by the Inukshuk’s message of friendship and collaboration. Wherein each stone may appear separate, together, they form a whole. Inukshuk, pronounced [in-ook-shook], are stone monuments erected in the image of humans. One of their purposes is to communicate direction in the harsh and desolate Arctic. Each stone is a separate entity. Each supports, and is supported by, the one above and the one below it. No one piece is any more or less important. Its strength lies in its unity. The stones which make up the Inukshuk are secured through balance. The Inukshuk celebrates the symbol of collaboration. Tuifaasisina Sieni Tualega-Voorwinden representing Samoa Tuifaasisina Sieni Tualega-Voorwinden Executive Member - Global REPRESENTING: Samoa - SIFA Samoa International Finance Authority Mrs. Sieni Voorwinden is the CEO of the Samoa International Finance Authority. In this role she is the Registrar and Regulator of all international entities registered and licensed in and within Samoa. She has over 15 years’ experience in international financial services. She has been instrumental in the development of Samoa’s International Finance Sector, spearheading the establishment of the Samoa International Business Finance Centre Ltd, which is the commercial and marketing arm of the Authority. Sieni is a leading member of National Working Groups addressing various issues relating to the International Finance Sector and is the co-lead negotiator on behalf of Samoa in Samoa’s efforts to delist from the EU Blacklist. She is the lead for Samoan delegations to the OECD Global Forum Peer Review Group on Exchange of Information for Tax transparency as well as other International Standard Setting bodies such as the Group of International Finance Centre Supervisors, Asia Pacific Group on AML/CFT. Sieni has a wealth of experience in compliance, legal and business development initiatives, and is often called upon by international organizations to share insights on these key issues. She is a strong advocate for the Pacific Region in finding solutions for the decline in Correspondent Banking Relationships in the Pacific. Sieni is a lawyer by profession and holds a Conjoint Degree – Bachelor of Arts and Law from University of Auckland, NZ. She is in her second term as the SIFA Chief Executive Office. Prior to her appointment as SIFA CEO in 2020, she was employed as the Chief Operations Manager – of The Cause Collective New Zealand, a Pacific social change agency based in Auckland New Zealand. She holds the traditional chiefly titles of Tuifaasisina from her mother’s family in Falelatai and the title Toeolesulusulu from her father’s family in Satupuala, both villages on the South West Coast of Upolu in Apia Samoa. Ross van der Schyff representing New Zealand Ross van der Schyff Executive Committee REPRESENTING: New Zealand Companies Office Lawyer Ross van der Schyff is the Registrar for registers managed by the Companies Office, including the Register of Companies. He is also the Commissioner of Patents, Trade Marks, Designs and Plant Variety Rights. Mr van der Schyff is the General Manager of Business Integrity Services, Market Services at the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE). He previously held a number of senior public service roles including General Manager of Resolution Services and Service Support and Design within MBIE Market Services. Mr van der Schyff has also managed the Insolvency and Trustee Service and the Intellectual Property Office of New Zealand.
