Officers From The International Finance Corporation (Philippines) Visit Acra

The officials were from various member countries of the IFC such as Africa, Japan, Philippines and Washington. The team headed by the Chief Investment Officer, Mr Rajesh Behal was interested to find out the role of ACRA in the monitoring of corporate compliance in Singapore. Officers from ACRA’s Governance Surveillance and Financial Reporting Surveillance Divisions shared how ACRA has established an effective regulatory environment that enables optimal compliance of the accounting standards, prompt disclosure of corporate and financial information of businesses and promotes good corporate governance practices. The IFC officials were also briefed on ACRA’s proactive stance in reviewing the qualified financial statements of public interest entities and the regulatory actions taken if these entities are found to be non-compliant with the Singapore Financial Reporting Standards. ACRA officials also shared about ACRA ‘s collaborations with other government agencies when conducting  monitoring and surveillance activities.  The visitors came away with a better understanding of the work carried out by ACRA in the area of corporate governance.
