Louise Smyth has been appointed as the new Chief Executive of Companies House and The Registrar of Companies for England and Wales effective September 2017.
Louise joins Companies House from a long career at the Intellectual Property Office, including roles as Director of IT, Director of Corporate Services and latterly as Chief Operating Officer. For the full story click here.

The Executive Committee are pleased to announce a new Conference Assistance Scheme. CRF members can apply for a bursary to help fund conference attendance fees at the annual CRF conference and any CRF related events during the year. The scheme can also be used to assist host jurisdictions in covering costs for speakers at these events. The annual budget will be up to USD 2,000 per annum.

Based on the data from the surveys and knowledge gathered during the period 2007 and 2015, the working group for The International Business Registers Survey and Report have created a report named as The Journey . The content of the report are the general development, the digital journey, beneficial ownership and challenges.

The Corporate Registers Forum (CRF) and the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM) co-organised the 2nd CRF Technical Workshop held on 18 & 19 October 2016 at the Aloft Hotel Kuala Lumpur. The workshop was attended by participants from New Zealand, Singapore, Hong Kong S.A.R., Netherlands, Solomon Islands, the Republic of Vanuatu, Germany, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, the Republic of Turkey, Labuan, Vietnam, the Republic of Maldives and Tunisia. The theme of the workshop was “The Future Role of the Registry and it was divided into 8 sessions discussing topics ranging from beneficial ownership, data integrity, delinquent directors, cross-border cooperation, corporate service providers and collateral registry. Speakers for the workshop comprised of fellow international corporate regulators, international bodies and speakers from MITI, MAICSA and SSM. Part of the programme of the workshop was a visit to the SSM Headquarters located at KL Sentral. During the visit, the participants were briefed on operational matters and taken on a tour of SSM and also the SSM ExBiz on the Go Bus. SSM would like to take this opportunity to thank the participants and speakers for their participation, sharing of knowledge and information and for making the workshop a success.
